What is CASA?

Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASAs) are community volunteers, just like you, who speak up for abused and/or neglected children.

Our CASA program belongs to a network of nearly 950 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and/or neglected children in courtrooms and communities.

2023 Washoe CASA Foundation Strategic Planning Meeting

Washoe CASA Foundation Board Members and Friends

On Friday, January 20, 2023, the Washoe CASA Foundation, the Washoe CASA Program and Nevada State CASA Executive Director, Jane Saint met in a conference room at Dolan/Lexus in Reno.  At our annual Strategic Planning Session, goals are outlined for the upcoming year.  Having met and/or exceeded our goals for 2022, we met with enthusiasm for what we can accomplish in the upcoming year.  Four major goals were discussed and Board Members chose to be leads in each category to make certain that we will achieve more in 2023.  We will recruit, train, and retain more CASA Volunteers to serve more children in foster care in our county.  We will continue to promote community awareness about the CASA mission.  We hope to meet or exceed our abundant fundraising of the previous year. And finally, we have a clear goal of building our Foundation into a more robust and sustainable organization so that our fine work can continue uninterrupted into the future.

Directly after our meeting, spouses, partners and friends joined up at Napa Sonoma on Virginia Street for food and fun conversation.  We welcomed new Board Member, Ruby Burnley and were so happy to host our contract trainer, Lori Fralick.  Thanks to our dynamic and hard-working Board and Program for a productive and entertaining day!
