What is CASA?

Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASAs) are community volunteers, just like you, who speak up for abused and/or neglected children.

Our CASA program belongs to a network of nearly 950 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and/or neglected children in courtrooms and communities.

More CASA Volunteers Serving More Kids in Care

Nevada CASA recently closed out our fiscal year, so we felt it was the perfect time to examine the impact of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding. The funding has allowed us to significantly enhance our advertising and marketing efforts geared towards volunteer recruitment, which has directly contributed to the increase in our volunteer numbers.

  • Between 2023 and 2024, new CASA volunteers throughout the state increased by 27%
  • Active CASA volunteers increased by 9%
  • CASA volunteers assigned to a case increased by 7%
  • Children assigned a CASA volunteer increased by 16%

While we are thrilled about the progress over the past year, the fact remains that only 20% of children in foster care in Nevada have a CASA volunteer! Our kids deserve better and we need your help to continue this momentum. Your support, whether financial or as a CASA volunteer, is crucial and greatly valued. You are an integral part of our mission and your continued support is vital.
