What is CASA?

Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASAs) are community volunteers, just like you, who speak up for abused and/or neglected children.

Our CASA program belongs to a network of nearly 950 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and/or neglected children in courtrooms and communities.

You can bring hope to a child in care this holiday season.

Foster children with a CASA advocate report significantly higher levels of hope. A child’s hope has been linked to more positive outcomes, including academic success, increased self-control, positive social relationships, and overall better well-being.

Your help will enable us to continue our efforts to recruit, train, and support Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs).

This Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting the Washoe CASA Foundation and the children in foster care it supports.

100% Giving Board!

We’re honored to receive the 100% Giving Board Award from the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada!

This recognition reflects our board’s unwavering commitment, through their time, expertise, and financial support, to advancing our mission and strengthening our community.

NFL My Cause My Cleats Initiative Brings Awareness to the CASA/GAL Mission

As part of the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats program, players can pick a cause that is important to them and represent their chosen organization on custom designed cleats.

Los Angeles Chargers center Corey Linsley has chosen to represent National CASA/GAL on his cleats this month. Corey wore the custom-designed cleats in the Chargers game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Dec. 5 and will wear them again when the Chargers play the New York Giants on Dec. 12.

Corey and his wife Anna have been supporters of CASA programs since their time in Wisconsin when Corey played with the Green Bay Packers. Now that they are in California, but still maintaining strong connections in Wisconsin, Corey and his family are excited to promote the national network of CASA/GAL programs through this initiative.

Corey has also been selected as the Chargers’ nominee for the NFL’s 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. He was also the 2020 nominee for this award when he was with the Green Bay Packers, and in both years his involvement with the CASA program in his community was highlighted.  In a recently shared video from the LA Chargers, Corey shares why he is passionate about the CASA/GAL mission.

Tampa Bay Coach Bruce Arians is also showing support for CASA/GAL programs through his shoes, with the CASA/GAL logo on them, which he wore while coaching in the Buccaneers game last weekend. Coach Arians has participated in the My Cause My Cleats initiative to highlight his support of CASA/GAL programs through his family’s foundation in previous years, and he remains committed to cause.

We are excited about this awareness for our network and thank Corey Linsley, Coach Arians and their families for this incredible support.
