The First Annual Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt

Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt

The day was bright, clear and cold for the First Annual: Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by The Washoe CASA Foundation. Over 30 community agencies started at 7:00am to set up interactive game and prize booths throughout the "Farm and Families" area at Rancho San Rafael Park on Saturday April 9, 2022. Over 60 volunteers, many from Kappa Alpha Theta - UNR and KAΘ Reno Alumnae Chapter, worked to lay carpets of colorful Easter eggs in four large areas.  At 9:00am, families gathered to enter the adapted Easter egg hunt area.  Tiffanie Story announced the rules for the hunt and children and their parents gently gathered eggs, hoping to collect a "golden" egg, to be turned in for a toy at the Reno Police Department booth.  Three more hunts for successive age groups were conducted as music played over the sound system.  The entire community was heard to be singing "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and "Let It Go."  An unofficial count puts the attendance at about 4000 people, who hunted up over 47,000 eggs!  The weather warmed up nicely and kids visited booth after booth, playing games and winning prizes and treats.  Everyone went away with full baskets and full hearts.  The whole day in honor Child Abuse Prevention Month was a huge success for kids and grown ups alike.  We hope to be back in one year to repeat the fun!  We extend a huge thank you to all the community members and agencies who worked so hard and as a team to make this event possible.
